USB Firewire Hard Drive – Why you Need one to Keep your Data Safe

A USB firewire hard drive is a vital piece of equipment for most computer owners. Anyone who saves music, movies or other important data files to their computer hard drive needs to know that their data is safe should anything happen to that computer.

So many people use laptops these days which are prone to accidents such as dropping, or spillages (my partner knows this only to well – after spilling coffee on one of his) and are of course highly desirable by thieves.

Portable hard drives allow you to protect you data by backing it up regularly (just in case anything should go wrong). Compact external hard drives also make it easy to carry your data with you wherever you go – to meetings for work or to share photos and other documents with friends and family on their computers.

Whichever type of external USB or firewire hard drive you choose it is important to make sire you always have more than one copy of your precious files. Don’t keep your back up storage drive near your computer – if your computer gets stolen you want to make sure they don’t take your external drive too. Keep your back up drive well hidden or off-site eg. if your computer is at home take your back up drive (when not in use) to the office.

Back up your files regularly to your external drive, this can either be done manually with drag and drop or using back up software such as Retrospect.
